London is a capital of UK(united kingdom) not only a capital of England. The British royal family resides in the city since 1837 in Buckingham Palace. London is home to over 7.5 million people while the metropolitan area exceeds 14 million.

The Thames River crosses the current city and divides it into two halves. There are at least 50 foreign communities with a population of over 10,000 people and talk about current form more than 300 languages.

Unlike the other European Union countries, the United Kingdom retained its currency, the pound sterling and euro if the change varies.

The London Underground is the world's oldest (since 1863) and Heathrow, one of 5 international airports and the busiest international passenger volume in Europe.

First, before going to London you have to choose convenient airport for your purpose of visit. There are plenty of offers with low-cost flights, but we must know where we are going because London city has 5 airports. Hence you should choose a airport nearer to your main activities in London otherwise your may end up spending more time and money on unnecessary travelling.

Public Transport in London - The city is divided into six concentric zones from a transport point of view, though most travellers only use the 1 and 2. Moreover metro tickets vary in price according to distance and can be purchased at the stations (from 4 pounds).

Buy a "Travel Card" for about 3 days allowing you to use any means of transport in the areas they cover. The cheapest are the "odd peak" are valid only from 9:30 in the morning. If you think stay more days to buy the "Oyster Card" which functions as purse but requires a 3 lbs.

The taxi is very expensive a trip through the centre will cost at least 8 pounds. Highly recommended to use a public transport metro and buses to travel around in London, many things are in zone 1, and some other are in Zone 2.

Food in London- The average meal in London is pretty bad. If you eat well you have to spend at least double what you spend in Spain. If you eat hamburgers, go to Hard Rock. First, because even American food is pretty good quality (as in all) is pretty good.

Places To Visit In London - London is a wonderful city with so many charms ... here are the key attractions that you shouldn't miss it.

Westminster Abbey - The ancient Benedictine abbey of Westminster is a place of religious worship, royal coronation and burial of kings and great names of English history. It is one of the great examples of monumental sculpture in Europe.

Buckingham Palace - Although not especially noted for its architectural interest, its history and the typical British guards each year attracts millions of tourists.

The ultimate royal residence open to the public on a tour that includes 19 palace rooms, some as attractive as the Throne Room, the picture gallery or the largest room: The Ballroom, the scene of lavish state banquets.

The palace is open daily from 30 July to 7 September, with visits every 15 minutes from 09:30 to 16:15.

St. Paul's Cathedral - Although the visit is not worth knowing free one of the most historic of the city. Not surprisingly, dozens of royal weddings, birthdays, funerals or celebrations at the end of war have taken place within its walls.

Miraculously saved from German bombing of the World War II, contains an excellent art collection from the medieval to Victorian times.

We love to climb to the top from where you can see a beautiful image of the city. Up is an adventure: 560 steps in a narrow hallway, ideal if you are going with children. The climb takes about half an hour, so you better id if you are in a good mood. The pictures from above make it worthwhile.

The Tower of London - One of the most visited monuments in London, creates a unique landscape along the river Thames, with its rugged granite floor and bloody history, was declared a World Heritage Site, in part because they are possibly the best preserved medieval castle in the world.

The London Eye has timetables depending on the season - February to April, open from 10:00 to 20:00 every day in May, June and September from 10:00 to 21:00 daily, July and August from 09:30 to 22:00 and from October to December from 09:30 to 20:00.

Soho and Chinatown - At the heart of London, this neighborhood is known worldwide for its nightlife and that fame is not undeserved because in a few places are concentrated such a variety of bars, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs.

Harrods - These are very famous department stores Knightsbridge area, near Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace, to say some known references.

Harrods is a plus for any tourist visit to London and you see many people walking around and photographing but little buying. Harrods has a reputation for being expensive.

Camden Town - Camden Town is the most famous place in the London Borough of Camden. This is a place well known for its market and the alternative lifestyle of its inhabitants.The mobile stalls are located in the plaza, considerably more expensive but better-looking.

Due to its unique inhabitants, most of the premises they occupy the streets are stores gothic clothing or tattoos and piercings.

To go to Camden Town must have at least a half a day, as it is a fairly large area and so different from the other areas. The best day to go camden town is Sunday.

Portobello Road - Portobello Market is one of the most famous markets in London. You have to visit on Saturday morning. At Portobello we can find a wide variety of items, among which are antiques. The coins, watches, furniture, stamps or jewelry are some of the most popular objects.

Portobello Market is named after the street that is, Portobello Road. This street is about three kilometers long and connects Notting Hill to Ladbroke Grove. In addition to the colorful stalls of the main street, you can also find shops and stalls in the streets perpendicular and Westbourne Grove.

Subway is the best option to reach Portobello Road. You can easily walk from Notting Hill Gate station (south) and Ladbroke Grove (north).
